Job Summary
The Department of Surgery is seeking a Research Assistant II to support the Tower Lab, which specializes in multi-omics approaches to musculoskeletal development, repair, and regeneration. The lab focuses on understanding mesenchymal-immune cell interactions within the stem cell niche under physiological conditions and how these interactions influence regenerative or fibrotic outcomes following injury.
Key Responsibilities:
- Bioinformatics Analysis: Analyze single-cell RNA sequencing and spatial transcriptomics data, along with other omics data.
- Data Management: Construct figures, analyze research data, and prepare research material for reports or publications.
- Technical Proficiency: Utilize R and analysis packages such as Seurat and Monocle; proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Project Coordination: Plan, coordinate, and supervise research projects; construct and operate laboratory apparatus and equipment.
- Supervision: Potentially supervise Research Technicians and/or lower-grade Research Assistants.
Experience and Education
- Master’s Degree with major coursework in the field and one (1) year of experience as Research Assistant I or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s Degree with major coursework and two (2) years of experience, including one (1) year as Research Assistant I or equivalent.
- Two (2) Years of College or specialized training in histology, serology, or medical technology with five (5) years of experience, including one (1) year as Research Assistant I or equivalent.
- High School Graduation with basic sciences courses and seven (7) years of experience, including one (1) year as Research Assistant I or equivalent.
