About the Perna Lab

The Perna Lab is seeking a talented and motivated Postdoctoral Fellow with a passion for cancer immunotherapy and translational research. Our research is at the forefront of cancer science, employing advanced technologies such as CRISPR/Cas9 screenings, single-cell sequencing, and the development of chimeric antigen receptors (CAR). We use primary patient samples and conduct in vivo mouse studies to push the boundaries of cancer treatment. The lab is supported by a prestigious NIH/NCI R37 MERIT award and additional grants, offering a rich, collaborative environment with experts in immunology, genetic engineering, clinical medicine, and computational science.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a Postdoctoral Fellow with:

• Molecular Cloning Expertise: Proficiency in molecular cloning is essential.
• Computational Skills: Experience with computational analysis is highly valued.
• Research Experience: At least 2 years of experience in a wet research lab, including cell/tissue culture, molecular biology, and cancer biology.
• Animal Work: Willingness to work with mice in in vivo studies.
• Critical Thinking & Teamwork: Strong critical thinking, communication, organizational, and writing skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Experimental Design & Execution: Design, organize, and execute research experiments using both in vitro systems and animal models, including genetic manipulation with CRISPR/Cas9, flow-cytometry, and single-cell analysis.
• Data Analysis & Documentation: Organize and perform data analysis with appropriate statistical methods, document procedures, and maintain lab inventories.
• Research & Presentation: Establish new research protocols, summarize findings, present data regularly, and prepare manuscripts for publication.
• National/International Engagement: Present research at national and international meetings, workshops, and seminars.

Credentials and Qualifications

• PhD and/or MD: Required.
