Position: Postdoctoral Fellow – Integrated Mathematical Oncology

The Integrated Mathematical Oncology (IMO) Department at Moffitt Cancer Center is seeking a motivated and talented Postdoctoral Fellow to join Dr. Kasia Rejniak's lab. This position focuses on an exciting NCI-funded project involving mathematical modeling of breast ductal carcinoma in situ and breast cancer micro invasions. Ideal candidates will have a Ph.D. in applied mathematics, computer sciences, physics, or related fields, with strong programming skills and experience in computational modeling.


Position Highlights:

  • Innovative Research: Develop novel mathematical models to study tumor cell interactions and micro invasions using experimental and clinical data.
  • Collaborative Environment: Work closely with cancer biologists and clinicians in a vibrant, multi-disciplinary setting.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Expertise: Proficiency in mathematical or computational modeling, particularly agent-based models (ABM).
  • Skills: Strong programming skills in Matlab, C/C++, Python, or R.
  • Attributes: High motivation, enthusiasm for interdisciplinary collaboration, and the ability to work independently and creatively.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and document computational models and simulations.
  • Collaborate with wet lab researchers to integrate experimental data with in silico models.
  • Develop scientific writing and presentation skills; prepare research reports and publications.
  • Present research findings to the Moffitt scientific community and at national/international conferences.

Credentials and Qualifications:

  • Education: Ph.D. in applied mathematics, engineering, computer sciences, physics, or a related computational discipline.
  • Skills: Excellent programming and data analysis capabilities.
