Description
The role involves working with the Head of Department and the Head of Upper School to maintain high academic standards within the Mathematics subject area. The teacher will support students throughout Upper School, helping them achieve their highest potential and encouraging engagement in both academic and extra-curricular activities.
Key Areas of Accountability
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- General
- Promote and uphold the school ethos.
- Lead by example in professionalism, ensuring student adherence to rules on dress, punctuality, and attendance.
- Build positive relationships with parents and visitors.
- Attend all major school events and maintain a suitable teaching load.
- Participate in duties and House activities, including Retreats and Expeditions.
- Curriculum Matters
- Stay updated with UK National Curriculum and Harrow Beijing curriculum guidelines.
- Plan, prepare, and document lessons.
- Manage curriculum delivery, ensuring it challenges and engages students appropriately.
- Conduct both formative and summative assessments in line with school policies.
- Write reports on student performance and maintain accurate assessment records.
- Welfare and Discipline Matters
- Monitor student progress, providing guidance and support.
- Write reports and maintain student records.
- Lead Personal Development tutorial sessions and communicate with parents.
- Maintain high standards of student behavior and dress.
- Follow school policies regarding health and safety both on and off campus.
- Foster a supportive and caring environment for students.

- Supervise students in extra-curricular activities.
- Organize logistics for after-school Enrichment Activities (EA), sports, and performing arts programs.

- Collaborate with the Academic leadership team to implement the School’s strategic plan.

- Assist in student and parent transition between Lower and Upper Schools.
- Set high standards for dress, punctuality, and professionalism within the school community.
- Offer guidance to both staff and students to help them reach their potential.
- Contribute to Harrow Beijing’s overall vision and ensure all stakeholders are aligned with it.

- Experience in teaching mechanics, delivering IGCSE and A-Level, and working in international schools.
Experience
- At least 2 years of teaching experience.
- Proven ability to inspire students and use ICT for learning.
- Demonstrated success in raising student achievement.
- Experience working with EAL students is advantageous.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject area.
- Graduate qualified teacher status (QTS).
- Master’s degree is an advantage.
