Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Principal, the Classroom Teacher will provide educational leadership and hands-on instruction for students, ensuring their academic growth and development. This role involves supervising teaching assistants, volunteers, and students while maintaining a dynamic and engaging classroom environment. The teacher will also contribute to curriculum development, attend school and department meetings, and handle various administrative tasks.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Supervision & Instruction: Supervise and educate students, utilizing teaching assistants and volunteer parents as needed.
2. Lesson Preparation: Prepare materials for lessons, presentations, labs, projects, and learning centers.
3. Record Management: Maintain student attendance and grade records, both in hard copy and electronic format.
4. Curriculum Development: Follow the Common Core curriculum and develop lesson plans in line with these standards.
5. Parent Communication: Set up meetings with parents during conferences and as needed, providing updates on student progress.
6. Administrative Tasks: Manage purchase orders, work orders, incident reports, and field trip requests.
7. School Involvement: Participate in school events such as open houses, science fairs, concerts, and field trips.
8. Website Updates: Maintain classroom websites and act as a communication liaison between the administration, parents, and students.
9. Documentation: Keep anecdotal notes and written observations on students’ progress.
10. Extra-Curricular Activities: Sponsor at least one after-school club, with additional compensation for these duties.

Curriculum Development & Planning:

1. Action Plans: Oversee the development and implementation of subject-specific action plans, aligning them with curriculum cycles and school-wide learning outcomes.
2. Assessment & Improvement: Coordinate the evaluation of student programs, analyze data, and develop action plans for program improvement.
3. Instructional Materials: Revise and update instructional materials in line with current research and school philosophy.

Program Evaluation:

1. Data Analysis: Gather and analyze student data to assess the quality of the school program and develop action plans for improvement.
2. Self-Study Coordination: Lead the gathering and analysis of classroom data for self-study and program evaluation purposes.

Additional Responsibilities:

1. Speak English at a native or fluent level.
2. Update class websites and information boards.
3. Maintain sensitive school data with confidentiality.
4. Be aware of campus activities and communicate effectively with all staff members.
5. Troubleshoot under the direction of the administration as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Teaching license or equivalent certification.
• Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in an accredited school is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic computer literacy.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and discretion with confidential information.

Working Conditions:

Work takes place in a typical school environment, with occasional evening or weekend work required for school events. Some overnight travel may be necessary.
