Description
The University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to serve as the Dean of the School of Education (SOE). As Dean, you will have the opportunity to shape the future of education in Alaska by overseeing a diverse team of faculty, staff, and students, while spearheading strategic initiatives that enhance educational outcomes statewide. This role emphasizes collaboration with Alaskan school districts, statewide organizations, and Indigenous Teacher programs, with responsibilities spanning both Fairbanks and Anchorage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and strategic direction for the School of Education.
- Foster partnerships with local school districts and organizations across Alaska.
- Oversee the delivery of academic programs in Fairbanks and Anchorage.
- Support Alaska’s Indigenous Teacher initiatives and other innovative educational projects.
Ideal Candidate: The successful candidate will have:
- Strong leadership skills and experience managing personnel and fiscal resources.
- A background in K-12 and higher education.
- A thorough understanding of accreditation processes and educational policy at state and national levels.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations and external partners.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Earned doctorate or terminal degree in education or a related field.
- At least three years of certificated work experience in public K-12 schools.
- A minimum of three years of experience in a higher education context.
