Job Summary
We are hiring immediately for a Scientific Programmer II to support the Center for TEAM-AI. This hybrid position requires working in the office on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge in information retrieval, natural language processing (NLP), chatbots, Python, and SQL.

Key Responsibilities
- Define program and/or system requirements by collaborating with stakeholders.
- Lead the design of programs and systems based on requirements.
- Ensure thorough and detailed specifications to prevent coding issues.
- Translate program and system requirements into technical specifications.
- Code moderate and complex programs in accordance with specifications.
- Conduct unit testing for all functions of the program.
- Design and conduct system and integration testing; verify results with stakeholders.
- Prepare documentation for programs and changes in production.
- Maintain completed/existing programs and systems.
- Adhere to departmental and industry standards for system development.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering.
- Experience: Minimum of three years of relevant research experience.
- Skills:
- Proficient in programming languages such as JAVA, C# .NET, Perl, Python, or other scientific programming languages.
- Strong knowledge of mathematical modeling and statistical computing.
- Expertise in information retrieval.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly to move objects.

- This position may be security sensitive, subject to Texas Education Code § 51.215.
- Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
