Description
Hiba Academy Nantong is seeking a qualified teacher who is eager to share their love of the subject with students. Experience in international settings and multilingual environments is welcomed, along with background in UK state or private sectors. Most of our students are Chinese, and we support them on their journey to fluency in English as they prepare for university abroad, primarily in the UK and US.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
- Foster the holistic well-being of all students in your care.
- Manage classroom discipline, dress standards, safeguarding, and adherence to school rules.
- Deliver lessons according to departmental schemes of work, ensuring they are well-prepared and appropriate for students' abilities.
- Participate in planning and departmental meetings, and regularly assess student progress through formative and termly assessments.
- Communicate with the Head of Department regarding any concerns about student progress or behavior.
- Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of your teaching and engage in the Staff Appraisal system.
- Develop and share teaching resources, and assist in preparing internal exams and schemes of work.
- Maintain cultural sensitivity and follow the school’s SEN policy.
- Communicate with parents regarding student progress and needs.
Home-School Communication
- Build strong relationships with parents, welcoming their involvement and insights.
- Familiarize parents with the curriculum and maintain open lines of communication about their child’s development.
- Attend Parents’ Meetings and provide accurate updates on student progress.
Tutoring
- Act as a form tutor, advocating for students and serving as their primary contact with the school.
- Take accurate daily registers and inform parents of relevant events.
- Support students in their daily school life, liaising with academic and pastoral teams as needed.
- Conduct weekly tutorial sessions and assist with the school’s moral education program.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Education or a relevant subject degree plus PGCE.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Minimum of two years of teaching experience.
- Strong knowledge of your teaching specialization.
Preferred Aptitudes
- Ability to assess student interests and needs.
- Experience in curriculum development.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and cross-cultural work experience is preferred.
