Job Overview

Wellington College China is looking for a dedicated Teacher of Biology to join our vibrant Secondary School team. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Biology (IGCSE and IB) and KS3 General Science, fostering a positive and engaging learning environment.

Objectives

• Assume responsibility for delivering high-quality Biology education to students.
• Ensure each child feels a sense of belonging within our educational community.
• Uphold the highest standards of child protection and safeguarding in line with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Key Responsibilities

• Curriculum Development: Teach IGCSE and IB Biology, as well as KS3 General Science, while continuously improving and adapting the curriculum.
• Student Engagement: Create an inspiring classroom atmosphere that encourages students to achieve their full potential.
• Assessment: Regularly assess student progress through formal and informal evaluations, providing constructive feedback.
• Family and Community Relations: Build authentic relationships with families to enhance student learning outcomes, communicate through workshops, presentations, and online platforms.
• Professionalism: Model Wellington Values—kindness, courage, integrity, respect, and responsibility—and engage in continuous professional development.

Preferred Qualifications

• Commitment to lifelong learning and a strong passion for teaching Biology.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and PowerPoint) and database systems.
• A proven ability to deliver co-curricular science activities.
• Experience in teaching IGCSE and IB Biology, as well as general science to Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9).

Additional Responsibilities

• Safety Standards: Emphasize safety in laboratory settings and ensure adherence to health and safety policies.
• Monitoring and Evaluation: Continuously assess your teaching effectiveness and participate in peer observations and appraisals.
• Resource Management: Advise the Head of Department on resource needs and assist with curriculum planning and development.
