Description

The ECC Flow Teacher provides an integrated, transdisciplinary program for children in the ECC Nursery to Kindergarten program, supporting and extending the program of inquiry for the year level. The Flow Teacher collaborates with the homeroom teacher in planning and assessment and, when possible, co-teaches with them.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Mission and Values:

    • Promote the values and mission of BCIS.

    • Ensure the implementation of school-wide policies.

    • Foster and maintain a positive working environment within the school.

    • Maintain open communication with staff.

  2. Teaching and Assessment:

    • Use an inquiry-based, play-based approach to planning, teaching, and assessing.

    • Extend and enrich children’s learning conceptually.

    • Ensure the delivery of art, music, and movement curricula, integrating them into projects and interest-based play to complement other areas of the curriculum.

  3. Curriculum Planning and Implementation:

    • Contribute to grade-level planning (units of inquiry, statements of intent).

    • Take responsibility for delivering and engaging students in identified learning outcomes.

    • Document and report children’s progress.

    • Provide opportunities for extended learning, such as project work based on common schemas across the grade level and interest-based play connected to one or more grade-level units of inquiry.

  4. Teaching Strategies and Collaboration:

    • Promote connections between classroom-based content, skills, and learning attitudes with other areas of the curriculum.

    • Model observation, interpretation, planning, and implementation of child-centered, play-based teaching strategies.

    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.


Desired Qualifications:

  1. Education:

    • Fluent in English.

    • Bachelor’s degree in Education.

    • Teaching qualification.

    • Specialization in early childhood education preferred.

  2. Experience:

    • Successful experience working as part of a team.

  3. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • A sound understanding of early childhood education and extensive knowledge of how young children learn, inquire, and explore their world to construct meaning.

    • Familiarity with the PYP framework.

    • Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form, using positive interpersonal skills with students, faculty, staff, administration, and parents.

    • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage work assignments efficiently.


Work Year and Compensation:

  • Approximately 190 working days per year.

  • Salary to be determined by the Head of School with approval from the Board.


Evaluation:

The Flow Teacher is expected to engage in active reflection and self-evaluation. Performance appraisals will be conducted by the Principal or Deputy Principal in accordance with Board policies and protocols.
