Role Summary:

The term of appointment will be up to [12 months], subject to renewal starting in September 2025, for work on an externally sponsored research grant.

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate to support the implementation of a groundbreaking research project funded until 2028 by Qatar Research Development and Innovation Council titled “Fertility, Faith and Family: Tracing fertility preservation trends, experiences and challenges in Qatar - A sociological wraparound intervention" and led by the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (DI) represented by Dr. Dina Taha, the Lead Principal Investigator. The collaborating institutions are Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), and Yale University. This interdisciplinary study examines the social, ethical, and healthcare dimensions of women's fertility preservation treatments in Qatar. The successful applicant will be based at the DI. The project will operate within the Research & Grants Department.

The successful candidate will play a key role in community engagement, managing research logistics, coordinating project activities especially pertaining to Event coordination and management, Partnership development and stakeholder management, facilitating knowledge-sharing activities, and ensuring research findings are accessible to diverse audiences.

Key Responsibilities:

Community Partnerships & Outreach:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with fertility clinics, medical professionals, community organizations, researchers and public policy personnel.
  • Ensuring culturally sensitive, trauma-informed and ethical approaches to all aspects of research
  • Assist in organizing community forums, workshops, and knowledge exchange events.

Knowledge Mobilization & Public Engagement:

  • Support the dissemination of research findings through webinars, workshops, social media, and public events.
  • Assist in developing infographics, educational materials, and policy recommendations.
  • Draft reports, op-eds, and community-centered publications and events to enhance public understanding of fertility issues.

Research Coordination & Support:

  • Conduct literature reviews and contribute to qualitative data analysis.
  • Collaborate with the research management team to align outreach strategies with project milestones.
  • Document engagement efforts and report on community involvement metrics.
  • Trace and document research impact and support legacy efforts.
  • Support the data collection and data entry activities

Other tasks as directed by the Lead Principal Investigator that fall within the project scope

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Master's degree (or higher) in Sociology, Anthropology, Public Health, Public Policy, Social Work, Community Development, or a related field.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience in community-based research, participant engagement, or public health outreach is preferred.
  • A demonstrated or emerging record of knowledge mobilization outputs and initiatives.
  • Familiarity with Qatari healthcare policies, ethics and bioethics, and gender or family studies is an asset.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Strong project management, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic (spoken and written).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to create educational and outreach materials for public dissemination for academic, policy, and public audiences.
