Overview:
Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), a member of Qatar Foundation, invites applications for the position of Scientific Director at the Neurological Disorders Research Center (NDRC) under the Qatar Biomedical Research Institute (QBRI). The center is dedicated to advancing early diagnostics and therapeutic strategies for neurological disorders, with a focus on autism.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement a 5-year and 10-year research Master Plan
• Lead budgeting, strategic planning, and scientific direction of NDRC
• Build and manage laboratory infrastructure and research teams
• Foster collaborations with national and international institutions
• Supervise research quality, compliance, and operational performance
• Actively engage in both basic and applied neurodevelopmental research
• Secure external research funding
• Recruit and mentor a high-performing scientific team
• Contribute to the broader mission of QBRI and HBKU

Research Focus Areas:

• Genetic, environmental, and molecular risk factors in neurological disorders
• Molecular diagnostics and digital phenotyping (AI integration)
• Precision medicine strategies for autism and related disorders

Minimum Qualifications:

• PhD in Biomedical or Life Sciences (or related field)
• At least 15 years of relevant experience, including 5 years in senior leadership
• Expertise in neurodevelopmental disorder research and center management
• Strong record in fundraising, research compliance, and international collaboration
• Strategic and operational leadership experience
• Excellent writing and communication skills; proficiency in Arabic is a plus
