Job Description:
Pfizer is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Computational Biologist to join our Oncology Research Unit (ORU) Computational Biology team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with top scientists in the development of cutting-edge antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) and immuno-therapeutics. The role can be based at our La Jolla, CA or Bothell, WA locations.
As a Senior Computational Biologist, you will focus on analyzing complex multi-omics data sets, including bulk RNA sequencing, single-cell sequencing, and spatial omics data, to drive drug discovery efforts. You will apply advanced bioinformatics and data science approaches to identify therapeutic hypotheses and assist in the development of ADCs, as well as analyze biomarker data from early clinical trials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with bench scientists to design and execute computational analyses of omics data from drug discovery programs.
- Develop and apply innovative computational strategies for cancer drug development, particularly for ADCs and precision medicine.
- Create new algorithms and workflows, including machine learning and artificial intelligence, for analyzing multi-modal data.
- Integrate and interpret internal and external datasets to explore tumor-associated antigens, predictive biomarkers, ADC drug combinations, and resistance mechanisms.
- Work closely with cross-disciplinary teams to generate data-driven hypotheses and support decision-making processes.
- Present findings and literature reviews at project meetings and contribute to scientific discussions.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or equivalent experience in computational biology, bioinformatics, data science, computer science, or related fields.
- Proven expertise in analyzing multi-omics next-generation sequencing data (e.g., genomics, RNA-seq, single-cell, spatial omics, proteomics) in biomedical research.
- Strong programming skills in Python and R, with familiarity in Linux, high-performance computing, and cloud computing.
- In-depth knowledge of ADC development, immune oncology, and related bioinformatics tools and databases.
- A passion for interdisciplinary research and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple concurrent projects.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary Range: $99,900 - $166,500 annually, based on experience.
- Eligible for Global Performance Plan bonuses (up to 15% of base salary) and participation in Pfizer’s long-term incentive program.
- Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k) plan with matching contributions, paid leave, and more.
- Relocation assistance may be available.
