About the Programme
The NORPOD Collaborative Postdoctoral Programme offers a unique opportunity for early-career researchers to engage in high-impact research in molecular medicine. It is organized by the Nordic EMBL Partnership for Molecular Medicine—a network of four leading Nordic research centers in collaboration with the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL).
The programme is designed to foster scientific excellence and cross-institutional collaboration through joint postdoctoral research projects. NORPOD fellows work under the guidance of two principal investigators (PIs) at different institutions within the partnership, building interdisciplinary expertise and benefiting from access to state-of-the-art research facilities.
More information about the Nordic EMBL Partnership is available here.
Participating Institutions
- DANDRITE (Aarhus University, Denmark): Focuses on basic and translational neuroscience.
- FIMM (University of Helsinki, Finland): Specializes in human genomics and precision medicine.
- MIMS (Umeå University, Sweden): Conducts research in molecular infection medicine; known for the CRISPR-Cas9 discovery.
- NCMBM (University of Oslo, Norway): Works at the intersection of molecular biosciences, medicine, and data science.
Fellowship Structure
- Each fellow is co-supervised by two PIs from different Nordic EMBL institutions.
- Fellows are employed full-time for 30 months by the host institution.
- Fellows will travel between the collaborating institutions to support project development and knowledge exchange.
- The programme includes access to advanced technologies and structured career development support.
- Fellows contribute to the goals of the Nordic EMBL Partnership by promoting collaboration and research excellence.
