Position Overview:
Springer Nature Group is seeking an Associate or Senior Editor for its journal Communications Engineering, a part of the Nature Portfolio's open access titles. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in selecting and preparing manuscripts for publication, working closely with the engineering research community.
This position can be based in London, Beijing, or Shanghai and offers a hybrid working model. It is a full-time, permanent role with a competitive salary and excellent benefits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Overseeing the editorial process for original research manuscripts, from selection to peer review.
- Making well-informed editorial decisions based on expert advice.
- Collaborating with editors across Springer Nature and engaging with international scientific experts.
- Commissioning and editing secondary content, including Reviews and Commentary.
- Attending conferences and visiting research institutes to represent the journal.
- Supporting the Editorial Board and contributing to the journal's strategy and policies.
Qualifications and Skills:
Essential:
- A PhD in engineering or a related field.
- A broad interest in engineering and enthusiasm to explore topics beyond your specialty.
- Ability to assess research across various disciplines, evaluating novelty and impact.
- Strong communication skills and fluency in English (written and spoken).
- Willingness to travel and engage with researchers worldwide.
Desirable:
- Postdoctoral experience (advantageous but not essential).
- Previous editorial experience (advantageous but not essential).
