Responsibilities
Sets up and performs routine and established lab procedures in support of lab goals, grant commitments, i.e. assays, cell/tissue culture, animal studies, etc. Monitors results, reports unusual outcomes and suggests modifications. Collects, enters and summarizes data. Assists in the maintenance of lab equipment and supplies. Performs basic statistical data analysis; prepares tables/charts/graphs and assists in organizing data. Presents at research laboratory meetings and contributes to writing of manuscripts. Works under supervision and may perform some assignments independently as discussed and approved by Principal Investigator.

The Pathology Research Core (PRC) is recruiting a Research Technologist. PRC facilitates tissue-based research by providing quality histological and related tissue-based services including preparation of histology slides for microscopy, tissue microarray construction, immunostaining, digital image capture and analysis, and preparation of tissues for subsequent nucleic acid or protein extraction. This position is within our immunostaining rotation. Responsibilities will include automated staining for IHC, IF, RNA-ISH, and multiplex panels of 7-40+ signals. This position will also optimize new staining protocols using vended and homebrewed antibodies.
PRC is part of the Mayo Clinic Biorepository Program within the Office of Core Shared Services in Rochester, MN. PRC is accredited by the College of American Pathologists and has 14 staff located in the Marvin Building.

Qualifications
Successful candidates must have excellent written/oral communication, organization, and laboratory skills. Preference will be given to applicants who have experience related to IHC, IF, and RNA-ISH staining, use of histology and digital imaging equipment, knowledge of tissue-based laboratory techniques, and familiarity with software applications to view and analyze microscope slide images
Qualifications
Requires bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, other relevant science, or an associates degree with 6 years of relevant laboratory experience. Must exhibit a solid understanding of lab techniques, equipment, and safety. Must have the ability to organize and carry out laboratory techniques independently and in a team setting. Experience with basic data analysis is required. This position requires demonstrated writing skills.
