Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled research scientist with a deep understanding of cancer biology and tumor immunology to join our team at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine. The successful candidate will focus on investigating the cellular and molecular mechanisms by which tumor-infiltrating myeloid cells influence the anti-tumoral immune response in cancer patients. This role involves designing and testing innovative targeted therapeutics aimed at suppressive pathways within the tumor microenvironment.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in a wide range of immunological assays, including flow cytometry, tissue cell culturing, human specimen processing, cytokine multiplex assays, western blotting, ELISA, ELISpot, cytotoxic assays, DNA/RNA extraction and analysis, as well as both conventional and next-generation sequencing. You will be responsible for designing and performing experiments, analyzing data, and presenting findings. This role requires the ability to manage daily research projects independently, organize data, and troubleshoot technical challenges.
This position offers an exceptional opportunity for career growth and development, with the chance to collaborate with a dynamic team of tumor immunologists at one of the top NIH-funded medical schools in the United States.
Qualifications:
- Extensive scientific knowledge and hands-on research experience in cancer biology and tumor immunology.
- Proven track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.
- Significant experience with human/murine myeloid cell and T cell functional assays, as well as tumor mouse models.
- 5-7 years of postdoctoral research experience required.
To apply, please submit your CV and cover letter, including your research interests, to Dr. Evgeniy Eruslanov at evgeniy.eruslanov@pennmedicine.upenn.edu, or apply directly through our application portal.

Schools enrolling undergraduates include the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Engineering and Applied Science, the Wharton School, and the School of Nursing. Among its graduate schools are its law school, whose first professor James Wilson participated in writing the first draft of the U.S. Constitution, its medical school, which was the first medical school established in North America, and the Wharton School, the nation's first collegiate business school.
In 2023, Penn ranked third among U.S. universities in research expenditures, according to the National Science Foundation. Its endowment is $22.3 billion, making it the sixth-wealthiest private academic institution in the nation as of 2024. The University of Pennsylvania's main campus is located in the University Cityneighborhood of West Philadelphia, and is centered around College Hall.
