Nanjing Forestry University (NJFU), located at the foot of Zijin Mountain and the shore of Xuanwu Lake, is a key provincial university jointly built by Jiangsu Province, the Ministry of Education and the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, a national "Double First-Class" construction of universities and colleges, and also a Jiangsu high-level university construction peak program A-class construction of construction of universities and colleges.
Aiming at serving the construction of national ecological civilization, NJFU takes forestry as its distinctive feature and develops coordinately multiple disciplines including science, engineering, agriculture, literature, management, economics, law and arts. NJFU has 21 colleges, 7 centers for postdoctoral researchers, offering Ph.D. programs in 7 first-class disciplines, master degree programs in 26 first-class disciplines and professional master degree programs in 19 disciplines. There is 1 national "double first-class" construction discipline of forestry engineering, 2 national key disciplines of first-level discipline of forestry engineering and ecology, 4 national key disciplines of second-level discipline of forest genetic breeding, chemical processing engineering of forest products, wood science and technology, and forest protection, 1 national key discipline cultivation point of first-level discipline of Jiangsu Province, 8 key disciplines of Jiangsu Province, 13 key disciplines (including key cultivation disciplines) of National Forestry and Grassland Bureau, and 10 key disciplines of Jiangsu Province. Advantageous Disciplines of Universities, 13 key disciplines of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration (including key cultivation disciplines), 10 key disciplines of Jiangsu Province.
NJFU has basically set Forestry Engineering, Forestry, Landscape Architecture (peak disciplines), Ecology, Agriculture and Forestry Economic Management, Design, Biology, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science and Engineering as highland disciplines to form an coordinated ecological civilization discipline system featured by forestry. The university has also built more than 50 innovation platforms at national and provincial level, including National Key Laboratory of Forest Tree Genetic Breeding, National Engineering Research Center for Low Carbon and Efficient Utilization of Forest Biomass, National-Provincial Joint Engineering Research Center of Biomass Materials for Packaging of Electromechanical Products, Provincial -Ministry Co-operative Innovation Center for Southern Modern Forestry , and 7 disciplines including Engineering, Plant and Animal Science, Agricultural Science, Material Science, Chemistry, Environmental Ecology and Biology and Biochemistry, are now in top 1% of global institutional rankings of ESI disciplines.

- Metasequoia Scholars
Category A: academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, internationally renowned scholars serving in the world's leading universities and scientific research institutions, or top talents at a level comparable to that of the above scholars.
Category B: Selected candidates of national major talent projects, national teaching masters, recipients of the National Natural Science Foundation of China's Outstanding Young Scientist Fund, professors from famous overseas universities, or leading talents at a level comparable to the above talents, generally not exceed 55 years old.
Category C: Recipients of the Outstanding Youth Science Fund of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, selected candidates of national-level major talent projects (youth), associate professors of famous overseas universities, or outstanding talents at a level comparable to that of the above talents, generally not exceed 45 years old.
Category D: Provincial Key (Brand) Talent Project inductees, assistant professors of famous overseas universities, or top-notch talents at a level comparable to that of the above talents, generally not exceed 40 years old.
2. Metasequoia Talents
Category E: Doctoral degree holders, younger than 45 years old, professors, or those who have attained the equivalent level of professors by peer experts' evaluation (the age of humanities and social sciences can be relaxed to 50 years old). In the past five years, presiding over the general program of National Natural Science Foundation of China, or presiding over the project of National Social Science Foundation of China, or won the second prize or above of National Teaching and Scientific Research Achievement Award (with the certificate of the award), or won the scientific research achievement award at or above the provincial and ministerial level (ranked in the top 2 of the first prize, and ranked in the top 1 of the second prize), or won the teaching achievement award at or above the provincial and ministerial level (ranked in the top 2 of the special prize, and ranked in the first 1 of the first prize); independently or as the first author in 8 or more papers published in domestic and foreign high-level journals in the field of this discipline, including at least 2 papers published in authoritative journals at home or abroad. Those who have outstanding representative achievements in teaching and scientific research or those who are in short supply of specialized talents can appropriately reduce the requirements on the number of papers. Overseas talents are not subject to the requirements of projects and awards.
Category F:
- With doctoral degree, younger than 40 years old, associate professor. In the past five years, presiding over the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) projects, or presided over the National Social Science Foundation of China (NSSCF) projects, or won the second prize or above of the National Teaching and Research Achievement Award (with a certificate of the award), or won the scientific research achievement awards at or above the provincial and ministerial levels (the first prize ranked in the top 7, the second prize ranked in the top 5, and the third prize ranked in the top 3 ); independently or as the first author in 5 or more papers published in domestic and foreign high-level journals in the field of this discipline, including at least 2 papers published in authoritative journals at home or abroad.
- Doctoral degree holders or those who have been engaged in postdoctoral research for more than two years in famous universities or academic institutions at home or abroad, who are under 35 years old and have reached the equivalent level of associate professors by peer experts' evaluation. They should have published five or more papers in domestic and foreign high-level journals in their own disciplines independently or as the first author in the past four years, including at least one paper in a domestic or foreign authoritative journal. Domestic postdoctoral fellows shall preside over two projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China or National Social Science Foundation of China or provincial and ministerial level projects. For those who have outstanding teaching and scientific research achievements or those who are in shortage of specialized talents, the requirement on the number of papers can be reduced appropriately. Overseas talents are not subject to project requirements.

(I). Benefits
- Metasequoia Scholars
The Metasequoia Scholars are on an annual salary system (agreed salary, before tax), and are given all-round support in terms of settlement and house purchase subsidy, scientific research start-up funds, laboratory office conditions, transitional housing, and enrollment quota for postgraduates and postdocs.
Category A: The annual salary is not less than 1.1 million yuan, and we will provide generous settling-in fee and start-up funds for scientific research. According to the discipline development plan, the university will provide good working conditions and living treatment for all talents. Specific requirements and treatment will be discussed on a case-by-case basis.
Category B: The annual salary is not less than 900 thousands yuan, granting a settlement fee of 300 thousands yuan and a house purchase subsidy of 1.5-2.5 million yuan. Provide start-up funds for scientific research, 3-5 million yuan for natural sciences and 1-2 million yuan for humanities and social sciences. Provide necessary research and office conditions, and equip research assistants as needed.
Category C: The annual salary is not less than 900 thousands yuan, granting a settlement fee of 200 thousands yuan and a house purchase subsidy of 1-1.6 million yuan. Provide start-up funds for scientific research, 1-2 million yuan for natural sciences and 500 thousands to1 million yuan for humanities and social sciences. Provide necessary scientific research and office conditions.
Category D: The annual salary is not less than 350 thousands yuan, granting a settlement fee of 200 thousands yuan and a house purchase subsidy of 700 thousands to 1 million yuan. Provide start-up funds for scientific research, 800 thousands -1 million yuan for natural sciences and 400 to 500 thousands yuan for humanities and social sciences. Provide necessary scientific research and office conditions.
- Metasequoia Talents
During the employment period, according to the state and relevant regulations, they will get salary, welfare and life treatment of the corresponding position, and will enjoy the corresponding support such as settlement fee, house purchase subsidy, scientific research start-up funds, and swing housing.
Category E: Provide settlement fee of 100 thousands yuan and housing subsidy of 600 thousands to 1 million yuan. Provide start-up funds for scientific research, 400 to 500 thousands yuan for natural sciences and 200 to 300 thousands yuan for humanities and social sciences. Assist in solving problems such as spouse's work and children's schooling.
Category F: Provide settlement fee of 100 thousands yuan and housing subsidy of 300 to 600 yuan. Provide start-up funds for scientific research, 200 to 300 thousands yuan for natural sciences and 100 to 150 thousands yuan for humanities and social sciences.
- General Faculty
Granting a subsidy of up to 300 thousands yuan for house purchase; providing a research start-up fund of up to 150 thousands yuan for natural sciences and up to 100 thousands yuan for humanities and social sciences.
- Full-time Foreign Talents
Full-time foreigners applying for the corresponding level of talent will be employed in accordance with the appointment system and enjoy the annual salary system (the annual salary includes the personal out-of-pocket portion of the social insurance for medical care, work injury, pension, maternity, unemployment, etc., but excludes insurance for spouses and children). According to the length of the appointment, the university will provide the corresponding annual salary and scientific research start-up funds, and the specific treatment will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
