King’s is delighted to announce a prestigious new Academic Fellowship scheme for 20 outstanding researchers focused on AI development and application across all disciplines, including health & biosciences, humanities, social & behavioural sciences, physical & mathematical sciences, security, arts, business and law.
This distinctive Academic Fellowship scheme is part of a major strategic investment by King’s in “AI+”, which aims to accelerate innovation in responsible AI for the benefit of society, and also includes a significant investment in computing infrastructure along with 6 senior professorial posts.
The AI+ Academic Fellowships aim to attract the brightest minds worldwide who can use AI to deliver breakthroughs in any area of research and/or innovation. King’s College London is committed to recruitment processes which engage all dimensions of society.
Each Fellowship will offer you:
- 5 years of Fellowship funding (inc. 3 years of protected research time), followed by transition to an open-ended academic position.
- £100k startup funding, and access to leading high-performance computing facilities.
- The valuable opportunity to join a cohort of innovative scholars collectively shaping the future of AI, through the cross-university King's AI Institute, offering a vibrant interdisciplinary environment, mentoring, industry contacts and more – alongside other networks including King’s Digital Futures Institute and King’s Digital Health Hub.
There are 20 positions available. Positions will lead to open-ended academic positions, subject to third year review. Appointments will typically be made at Level 7 (Fellow) or Level 8 (Senior Fellow) in our Research job family.
This initiative is led by our Vice President Professor Sir Bashir M. Al-Hashimi FRS and aims to create our AI leaders of the future. We invite applications from post-doctoral researchers, fellowship holders, and academic staff – and are open to AI experts from other sectors, including industry and government.
