Postdoc Research Fellow, WF Institute for Regenerative Medicine

    Description

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    JOB SUMMARY

The Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine (WFIRM) is seeking post-doctoral fellows and staff scientists with demonstrated experience in bioinformatics, machine learning/artificial intelligence, tissue engineering or virology to support research into virus-host responses in three-dimensional human microphysiological models of upper airway, skin and oral mucosa. Human tissue models will be challenged with a wide range of respiratory and skin-tropic viruses, including various strains of dengue, vaccinia, mpox, influenza, parainfluenza and adenovirus. Biochemical, molecular and multiomic responses to infection will be quantified using established methods. Host responses to different viral doses will be evaluated and compared over time using traditional bioinformatic approaches. In collaboration with the Wake Forest Center for Artificial Intelligence, these data will be applied to AI/ML models to identify predictive markers of virus infection and pathogenicity.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Doctoral degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, or virology with two years of related research experience.
