Medical Education Tracks at DGSOM:

1. Traditional MD:

   • Standard MD program.

2. Five-year Dual Degree track:

3. PRIME-LA (Leadership and Advocacy) MD-Graduate:

   • Focuses on developing knowledge and skills to serve historically marginalized communities, especially in South Los Angeles.

4. Urban Health Equity Pathway:

   • For students committed to global health equity and healthcare access for diverse, marginalized populations.

5. Global Health Equity Pathway:

   • Similar to Urban Health Equity Pathway, focusing on global health.

Academic Pathways:

• HEALS (Health Equity, Advocacy, Leadership, and Service):
  • A curriculum designed for a new age, likely incorporating aspects of community service, leadership, and advocacy.

Curriculum Overview:

• Year One (MS1):

  • Focus on Scientific Foundations of Medicine, Foundations of Practice, Early Authentic Clinical Experience, Structural Racism & Health Equity, Ethics & Humanities.

• Year Two (MS2):

  • Continued learning in science.

• Year Three (MS3):

  • Eight clerkship rotations.

• Year Four (MS4):

  • Electives and capstone.

• Discovery Year:

  • Offers choices including research, dual degree, or dedicated pathway experience locally or overseas.

• Eight-year Articulated MD-PhD training track:

  • Part of the curriculum for those pursuing the MD-PhD route.

Admissions and Application Process:

1. Key Application Requirements:

   • Completion of the AMCAS application.
   • Submission of MCAT exam score.
