Description

The Lee Lab in the Department of Radiation Oncology is seeking a dedicated Research Technician II. This role involves supporting cutting-edge research on the effects of radiation on normal tissue injury and cancer development. The ideal candidate will be skilled in molecular and cell biology techniques, histology, and animal studies, contributing to vital projects aimed at understanding radiation-induced health effects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Molecular Biology: Perform DNA/RNA/protein extraction, qRT-PCR, immunoblotting, immunohistochemistry, and microscopy.
  • Cell Biology: Study radiation effects on intestinal and oral mucosal organoids, and radiation-induced blood cancers.
  • Animal Research: Assist with experiments on radiation responses in the GI tract and oral mucosa. Manage the lab’s mouse colony, including breeding, biopsies, and marking.
  • Data Management: Maintain detailed lab notebooks, set up laboratory equipment, and report data to the Principal Investigator (PI).
  • Collaboration: Train new lab members, contribute to a collegial lab environment, and meet weekly with the PI for planning and troubleshooting.
  • Flexibility: Availability to work on weekends or shifts as needed.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in biology, botany, zoology, psychology, or a related scientific field.
  • Experience: No additional experience required; relevant education and experience will be considered.
