Description
Do you want to lead, engineer, and deliver software that will help small and medium business customers solve their most strategic challenges through cloud technologies? Do you like to tackle ambiguous problems and proactively mitigate risks before they become roadblocks? If you have a passion to help transform and accelerate a customer’s ability to gain value from the cloud, join the WWSO Solutions team!
Key job responsibilities
As a Software Development Engineer (SDE) within the AWS Solutions Engineering Team, you will design, engineer, and deliver AWS Solutions with considerable impact for AWS customers. We are looking for world class software development engineers to deliver software solutions focused on helping jump start customer’s cloud workloads. You will work with product management, customers, and your software development team to deliver AWS Solutions, software assets, and build an open-source community that drives small and medium business innovation on AWS.
At Amazon, we hire software engineers who work efficiently, solve complex and ambiguous problems, and deliver new software with limited guidance. You will get to make technical and business trade-offs based on your understanding of the business impact of your systems. You will own team architecture, provide system-wide view and design guidance, make things simpler, and resolve the root cause of endemic problems.
A day in the life
As an SDE, you will:
- Work efficiently to solve complex and ambiguous problems
- Deliver high quality software with limited guidance
- Make technical, business, short-term, and long-term trade-offs based on your understanding of the business impact of your systems
- Own team architecture, provide system-wide guidance, and make things simpler
- Resolve the root cause of endemic problems and remove bottlenecks.
About the team
The team’s charter is to develop easy-to-use, repeatable, scalable solutions and go-to-market programs. We leverage our domain expertise to work backwards from the needs of buyers and builders, and we anticipate and invent on their behalf.
Solutions integrate AWS services, capabilities, and partners, and they’re purpose-built to address priority customer use cases — and the innovation, modernization, and transformational business
outcomes customers seek. When using our solutions and programs, customers achieve outcomes measurably faster, with lower effort and risk.
Diverse Experiences
Amazon values diverse experiences. Even if you do not meet all of the preferred qualifications and skills listed in the job description, we encourage candidates to apply. If your career is just starting, hasn’t followed a traditional path, or includes alternative experiences, don’t let it stop you from applying.
Why AWS
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the world’s most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud platform. We pioneered cloud computing and never stopped innovating — that’s why customers from the most successful startups to Global 500 companies trust our robust suite of products and services to power their businesses.
Work/Life Balance
We value work-life harmony. Achieving success at work should never come at the expense of sacrifices at home, which is why flexible work hours and arrangements are part of our culture. When we feel supported in the workplace and at home, there’s nothing we can’t achieve in the cloud.
Inclusive Team Culture
Here at AWS, it’s in our nature to learn and be curious. Our employee-led affinity groups foster a culture of inclusion that empower us to be proud of our differences. Ongoing events and learning experiences, including our Conversations on Race and Ethnicity (CORE) and AmazeCon (gender diversity) conferences, inspire us to never stop embracing our uniqueness.
Mentorship and Career Growth
We’re continuously raising our performance bar as we strive to become Earth’s Best Employer. That’s why you’ll find endless knowledge-sharing, mentorship and other career-advancing resources here to help you develop into a better-rounded professional.

Skills
Overview
Amazon, founded by Jeff Bezos in 1994, began as an online bookstore and has since evolved into one of the world's largest and most influential technology companies. Headquartered in Seattle, Washington, Amazon has expanded its business beyond e-commerce to include cloud computing (Amazon Web Services, or AWS), digital streaming (Amazon Prime Video), artificial intelligence (Alexa), and much more.
Amazon's mission is "to be Earth's most customer-centric company," offering a vast selection of products and services at competitive prices with a focus on convenience and customer satisfaction. The company operates a global marketplace, enabling millions of sellers and small businesses to reach a worldwide audience.
In addition to its online retail dominance, Amazon is a leader in cloud computing through AWS, which provides scalable and reliable cloud services to businesses, governments, and individuals. AWS is a significant profit driver for Amazon, contributing substantially to its overall revenue.
Amazon has also made significant investments in logistics, with a vast network of warehouses, delivery trucks, and even plans for drone delivery to ensure fast and efficient shipping. The company has further expanded into physical retail with the acquisition of Whole Foods Market and the launch of Amazon Go, a chain of cashier-less stores.
Beyond commerce and technology, Amazon has a strong presence in digital content with services like Kindle for e-books, Audible for audiobooks, and Prime Video for streaming movies and TV shows. The company's commitment to innovation and its ability to diversify its business model has made it one of the most valuable companies in the world.
As of now, Amazon continues to shape the future of retail, technology, and entertainment, with a relentless focus on innovation and customer satisfaction.
