About Us:
The Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto is a global leader in medical research and education. Our Wilson Centre for Research in Education is one of the largest and most comprehensive centers for health professions education research worldwide, affiliated with the University of Toronto, University Health Network (UHN), and the Toronto Addis Ababa Academic Collaboration (TAAAC) Program. The Centre comprises twenty faculty members, fifty-nine scholar researchers, three postdoctoral fellows, and forty learners.
Your Opportunity:
As the Business Officer, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing finance, human resources, and administrative functions to support the Wilson Centre’s teaching and research objectives. You will lead a team, manage complex budgets, and ensure compliance with university policies and regulations. Your strategic oversight will be crucial in advancing research priorities and achieving departmental goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Forecast, plan, and monitor multiple complex budgets.
- Interpret and apply financial policies and procedures.
- Oversee recruitment projects and manage staff workflow.
- Stay updated on policy changes and regulatory requirements.
- Direct the activities of staff-appointed employees.
Essential Qualifications:
- Education: University degree in business, accounting, finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience: Minimum five years in administrative, financial, and HR management in a university or hospital setting.
- Skills:
- Financial and HR management expertise.
- Proficiency in managing complex administrative processes.
- Ability to analyze data and produce comprehensive reports.
- Experience with accounts receivable and account reconciliation.
- Strong decision-making, planning, and project management skills.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency in FIS, HRIS, and Microsoft Suite; knowledge of cloud-based platforms like Zoom and Teams.
