Organizational Background: The Centre for Oncology and Immunology aims to identify novel, “druggable” cancer targets for hard-to-treat malignancies using advanced genomic and proteomic techniques, functional screens, and immuno-oncology approaches. Our goal is to develop therapeutics against these targets, conduct clinical trials, and facilitate worldwide commercialization. Success will address pressing medical needs and establish Hong Kong as a leading hub for innovative cancer and immuno-oncology drug development.
We are currently offering multiple postdoctoral fellowship positions within our multidisciplinary research teams based in Hong Kong. These teams work on collaborative projects with international consortia, focusing on cancer genetics, molecular biology, and the immune system to develop novel immunotherapies. This is a dynamic opportunity to contribute to exciting international projects, including collaborations with the University Health Network/Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Canada.
Our Research Areas Include:
- Project i: Investigating synthetic lethal interactions in myeloid malignancies using functional genomics, zebrafish models, and xenotransplantation platforms.
- Project ii: Using 3D organoid cultures and gene editing to study tumor driver genes in gastrointestinal cancers.
- Project iii: Examining cancer metabolism and the tumor microenvironment in hepatocellular carcinoma and gastrointestinal cancer.
- Project iv: Studying immunosurveillance and neuroimmune regulation in tumor progression.
- Project v: Developing novel T Cell gene therapies for recalcitrant malignancies.
- Project vi: Analyzing multi-omics data to identify immune-related biomarkers and therapeutic targets for immuno-oncology.
Job Responsibilities:
- Contribute to collaborative research projects focused on anti-cancer or immuno-oncology drug development.
- Utilize multi-omics approaches, organoid technology, and novel animal models for cancer biomarker discovery.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences, Bioengineering, Biological Science, or related fields, with a focus on areas such as Cancer Biology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Genomics, or Bioinformatics.
- Proven track record of publishing academic research papers.
- Experience in immuno-bioengineering, molecular biology, cellular immunology, and mammalian cell culture.
- Experience in multidisciplinary projects and international collaborations.
Desirable Skills:
- Familiarity with CRISPR/Cas9, high-throughput screening, next-generation sequencing, and single-cell sequencing.
- Specialized interest in multi-omics profiling, cancer metabolism, and drug discovery.
- Experience with mouse models, organoid models, zebrafish models, and/or xenograft models.
- Understanding of clinical trial theory and translational research processes.
Additional Information:
- Good command of written and spoken English, strong communication, and presentation skills.
- Self-motivated, hardworking, and able to work well in an interdisciplinary team.
- Positions are based in the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park.
- Competitive salary, annual leave, and medical benefits offered.
- We welcome applications from overseas graduates from top 100 institutions in STEM-related subjects.
